The three buckets model is a useful tool that supports you to identify potential for something to go wrong, enabling you to enhance safe practice. The potential for a clinical situation to become ‘risky’ is influenced by what the model calls ‘the three buckets’ - self, context and task. This template can be used to assess yourself against each of the buckets, and forms an example learning activity for the Flying Start NHS clinical practice unit.
